ART

colored pencils and black ink are the foundation for my creativity. to me, there is nothing better than seeing the rainbow of possibilities when i look at my colored pencil carrying

case. i fell in love with botanical illustration after taking a class in 2009 and haven’t stopped. flowers are a natural subject with their bright colors and perfect compositions and what i like most about botanical illustration is you don’t have to fuss with shadows or image staging. the only problem is that they come with a dated stigma attached to them. to make my botanicals more youthful, i outline all the shapes with black ink which gives them more of an illustrative feel rather than a watercolor study. currently i am doing a botanical series showcasing the flower with it’s historical meaning. as an art history major in college, i am forever intrigued with symbolic meaning and find it so fascinating.
i will be offering 8x10 and 5x7 prints shortly in my shop.
